Food safety alert!
Have you purchased a container of pre-cut cantaloupe or watermelon recently? If so, you might want to check your fridge.
On Friday, April 12th, Caito foods voluntarily recalled packages of fresh-cut cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon, and mixes containing these fruits. The recall is due to reported cases of Salmonella food poisoning in several states, including Ohio. Containers of melon are sold at Walmart, Kroger, Trader Joe's, Target, and Whole Foods. Do not eat these products and dispose of them promptly. The CDC then recommends that you clean your refrigerator to prevent the germs from spreading to other foods. Tips for cleaning after a food recall can be found here.
