World Food Day is observed yearly on October 16th. This year's theme is "A #zerohunger world by 2030 is possible." While fighting hunger in our community, country, and the world can feel overwhelming to most of us, just taking a few steps to reduce our own wasted food at home can help.
If you're like me (and almost every other American), you've probably thrown out food that was safe to eat. The National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) estimates that up to 40% of food grown/produced is never eaten. Reducing our food waste, even by 1/3 could eliminate the problem of hunger in our country.
